The current national record holder in Javelin Throw, Annu Rani is the upcoming star in Indian athletics.
Hailing from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Annu trains under former Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Kashinath Naik.
In 2014, she broke the national record twice; first at the Commonwealth Games trials where she threw 58.83 m and then at the Asian Games in Incheon. Breaking her own national record to throw 59.53 m, Annu clinched a historic bronze medal for the country.
In 2016, she crossed the 60m barrier with a 60.01m throw at the Open National Athletics Championships.
At the 2017 Asian Athletics Championship, Annu won a bronze medal with a throw of 57.32m. She crossed the 61m mark with a record throw of 61.86m at the 2017 Federation Cup National Senior Athletics Championships to seal her spot at the Athletics World Champions in London, becoming the first Indian woman to do so.
