Atanu Das is one of the most promising Indian archers. He gave evidence of his talent at an early age when he became the sub-junior champion at his very first national competition in October 2007 at Jabalpur. His first International tour was in Turkey 2009 (Youth World Championship) followed by the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010.

He started archery in December 2006 and his first coach was Mithu Da. A product of the Calcutta Archery Club, where he learnt the basics of the sport under coach ShantanuDey, Atanu moved to Tata Archery Academy in 2008 where he came under the tutelage of the likes of DharmendraTiwary and Korean coach Lim Chae Wong. Atanu is currently a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited employee posted in Kolkata.

Atanu won a bronze medal in Mixed Team event with DeepikaKumari in the World Cup in Colombia in 2013. He also won 3 medals at the Asian Grand Prix in 2013 in Bangkok.

In year 2016, he won two World Cup medals in the Mixed Team event and one bronze medal in the Team event. The lone Indian male archer to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics, he missed the quarter finals spot by a whisker.
