Ayonika Paul

Ayonika Paul is one of the top rifle shooters in India. Ayonika, born and brought up in Mumbai, has risen by leaps and bounds in 10m Air Rifle event in last couple of years and has impressed everyone with her consistent top scores. In 2014, she entered the final of 4 consecutive major tournaments, winning a medal in 2 of them. She won the silver medal in the Asian Olympic Qualifying Tournament in New Delhi in 2016, thus securing quota for India for Rio 2016 Olympics.

She announced her arrival at the International stage by winning Gold Medal at the International Junior Shooting Competition in Munich in 2008. She then went on to win multiple medals in Junior National Shooting Championships. In past 2 years she has also won multiple medals in Senior National Championships against some strong domestic competitors. At the Asian Junior Championships in Kuwait in 2011, where she won a bronze medal. She also missed the Olympic Qualification by a whisker at the Asian Championships in Doha in 2012.

2014 was a great year for Ayonika. She won the Bronze medal at the ISSF World Cup in Maribor, Silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. At the Shooting World Championships in Spain, Ayonika shot a world class score to top the qualification round but luck deserted her in the final and she finished 8th
