Rifle shooter Ayonika Paul won a silver medal and an Olympic quota place in 10 m Air Rifle at the Asia Olympic qualifying tournament. Ayonika shot a world class 416.6 to enter the final in 3rd place. She shot consistently good shots in the final to secure a silver medal and India’s 11th Olympic quota in shooting. 9 out of the 11 shooters who have won quotas for India are supported by OGQ.
Pooja Ghatkar won the bronze medal with an excellent performance but missed out on an Olympic quota as one country can win only 2 quotas in any event and India has already won 2 quotas in 10 m Air Rifle.
Many congratulations to Ayonika and Pooja.
Viren Rasquinha, CEO, OGQ, said, “Fabulous performance by Ayonika and her quota was much deserved. It was heartbreak for Pooja Ghatkar to miss out on her last shot. We are very proud that Heena, Kynan and Ayonika, all 3 Indian shooters who have secured quotas for India so far in the final Olympic qualifier, are all supported by OGQ.”
