Ace shooter Heena Sidhu today put up a dominant performance from start to finish to win Gold in 10m Air Pistol on the opening day of the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament . With this win she secured the ninth quota for India in Shooting for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
The former World No. 1 shooter was in terrific form in the qualifying round as she shot a world class core of 387 to qualify in the first position. In the finals, where all 8 qualifying shooters start from zero, Heena took an early lead and then never looked back as she went on to win the Gold Medal.
Viren Rasquinha, CEO of OGQ said, “This was a brilliant performance by Heena. She came very close to Olympic qualification on more than a couple of occasions last year but missed out. I am very glad to see her keep her nerves under immense pressure. Full credit to Heena as well as her husband and coach Ronak Pandit for executing almost a perfect match.”
Heena is the 7th shooter supported by OGQ to win a quota place for India. You can see the video of the medal ceremony Here
