P.V. Sindhu and Saina Nehwal, both supported by OGQ, made India proud at the recently concluded BWF World Championships in Glasgow. Sindhu won a silver medal while Saina won a bronze medal to mark a historic achievement where for the first time ever, two Indian players have finished on the podium at the prestigious event.
In one of the best matches ever played in the history of World Championships, Rio Olympics silver medallist Sindhu, who trains at the Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, lost to Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 19-21 22-20 20-22 in an epic battle lasting 110 minutes. OGQ has been supporting Sindhu for the last 7 years with focus on international exposure and physiotherapy. This was the third world championship medal for Sindhu after she had won bronze twice in the 2013 and 2014 edition.
Saina recovering post her knee surgery in August 2016
Saina, the bronze medal winner at the London 2012 Olympics, beat second seed Sung Ji Hyun of Korea in the quarters before bowing out in the semi-finals to the eventual champion Nozomi Okuhara. Saina, who trains under Vimal Kumar at the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bangalore, made a stunning comeback from a knee injury which she had suffered during the Rio Olympics last year in August. OGQ had facilitated the complete surgery under renowned surgeon Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in Mumbai in August 2016. Post her surgery we provided her a full time physio to look after her rehab. We are proud of Saina as she has shown immense grit and determination to get back to winning ways.
We thank you for your tremendous support to OGQ.
